who-who-ah-whoo, who-ah-whoo

Here is an interesting picture - at least I believe it is.

This is a picture of a Great Horned Owl, Bubo virginianus that is perched atop of my neighbor's house. This critter appeared just after the sun went down and as you can see he didn't come out too well in the picture. However, his glowing eyes do look cool.

We've been in our house now for seven years and in that time we've heard the who-who-ah-whoo, who-ah-whoo on many a nights but this is the first time seeing one in our area. I just need to figure out a way to get this critter to catch some of the Grey Squirrels that are destroying our bird feeders - any ideas?

Like a coyote howl, the call of the great horned owl is a classic sound of the wild and can be heard a long way off.
