Any Time!

Please do!  Bring along some rum and move to the front of the line...

Oh Deer!

The resident deer seems to now be around more frequently.  I suspect foraging and preparing for the long winter ahead.  They're welcome now that the gardens and plants have passed with a hard frost but still a nuisance for sure.

This lady here thought she could fool me by standing statuesque like but no chance.

Same with her partners in crime standing still behind her, see red arrows -

Vintage Coppertone

This Coppertone bottle was pulled from my dads tackle box, which has been stored in his shed since their Kwaj days, i.e. late 1980s.  Older but truly a collectible.

Romanian Red Garlic Planted!

My Romanian Red hardneck garlic arrive a couple weeks, just in time to be planted.  So, on Sunday 10-14 I did just that.  The 1lb, amounted to 11 bulbs or 62 individual cloves, which I planted into 4 rows.

I covered the raised bed with wire in an effort to keep the darn squirrels from digging and rooting and tearing things up but also to keep the deer and other pests out too.

I've since covered with a thick layer of a grass and leaf mulch from the last time I mowed the lawn.  Hoping to see new garlic plants poking their heads through soon and before the real cold weather sets in.

Fall Bush Beans!

First batch of our fall bush beans.

They were delicious!

Shrooms!

Mushrooms pictures taken from 270 Burgess.  Also, wanted to see if Blogger would allow me to upload and post so many.  Either way I found them interesting and worth a post, enjoy -

Two Heads Are Better Than One!

A couple of BIG dogs keeping an eye on the owners truck while parked in a no-parking zone.  But really, is anyone gonna say anything...

Changes Being Made #3

Original driveway stairs and front walkway -

Original driveway retaining wall -

New, redesigned retaining wall (reusing the old stone), driveway stairs (new bluestone slabs) and paver walkway -

and there may be a "Changes Being Made #4", stay tuned...

Changes Being Made #2

Changes #2 - a new paver walkway has been installed, along with 2 new composite lampposts, rearranged (transplanting) of perennials, shrubs and ornamental grasses and newly defined landscape beds.

Although, late in the season hydro-seeding put down.  Hoping this takes and grass begins growing before the cold weather and winter sets in.  Really do not want to have a muddy mess in the front yard all winter long.

Changes Being Made #1

Our new front stairs have finally been completed.  It was a long (longer than expected) process but one worth the wait.  The new stairs was one phase of a three phase project - replace front stairs, front walk and driveway retaining wall.

If You Build (Plant) It, They Will Come

I planted parsley along side the carrots this season and both did very well.  Outside of the obvious, the hope was to also attract the Black Swallowtail butterfly and as you can see below it was a smashing success!

They were partial to the parsley and devoured it.  We had about 6 to 8 and boy did they grow fast.  Seemed like they doubled in size every day.

Not sure where they crawled off to but hoping they chose a good, safe and protected space to build their chrysalis.

A Little Off The Top Please...

The wire covering over our carrots was successfully in limiting how much the deer's could get to and eat.  As you can see here they've helped themselves and eaten the carrot tops right down to the wire.  What a pain in the butt these deer are...

What Could Go Wrong

This looks safe right?

The stuff I see during my commutes to and from the office, yikes!
