Just Thought I'd Share

FYI

I despise when people make the "heart hand" symbol, which is why I've made the icon here as small as I could!

For some reason it just REALLY irks me!

To those that do this, PISS OFF!

I Thought Unique But Diseased...

From what I've been able to determine some of our echinaceas, more so the Purple Coneflower but some Black-eyed Susan's too, have a disease called "Aster Yellows".

Aster yellows is a viral-like disease caused by a phytoplasma (formerly called a mycoplasma-like organism). Insects that suck the sap of plants, especially the aster leafhopper.  There is no cure, treatment, pesticide or insecticide, to control aster yellows. That's why early diagnosis is crucial. Promptly remove any infected plants from your garden and dispose of them so no more aster leafhoppers can feed on them and spread the disease further.

Reluctantly, I've been pulled the affected plants and putting them in the trash, versus compost, to ensure they're gone so not to infect our others coneflowers.

But I Love You! Come Back...

It's that time of year again, Spring, when love is in the air...and the wild turkey's take over the roadways.

Whether you can see them or hear them off in the distance they're everywhere!

The Tom's are relentless in their pursuit of love and affection from the tired and weary hens.

There were about 5 or 6 Tom's in the pics below, each trying to out do the other, with their dancing and puffing and strutting.  As the hens would scoot off, the Tom's would follow, often stopping in the middle of the street to prance around, most of the while bring traffic to a complete stop.

I am noticing that some vehicles no longer stop or even slow down when approaching a love struck Tom in the roadway.  Seems they're okay with running them over.  No question their appeal is waning, as these are common sights now and people are in too much of a hurry to get to where they're going.

One Ringy-Dingy

Free Public Event

I was startled by the doorbell this morning.  Actually, not the doorbell per se but rather Trixie-dogs reaction to the doorbell. Let's just say a change of undershorts was required...

Anyway, when I opened the door I was greeted by a Jehovah's Witnesses.

My initial reaction was annoyance and I was poised to unload and chase them off.  However, the woman handing me the above pamphlet was elderly and seemed very nice.  So, I decided to take a different approach and instead I thanked her for the invite and wished her a wonderful day.

On a positive note of their visit, I was then able to use the above pamphlet as a coaster for my sweating lunchtime ginger ale.

A win win!
