Personal Assessments

Here is what my dad wrote on an old application for his Personal Assessments -

What are your Personal Assessments?!

A Rafter In Our Front Yard!

There was rafter of wild turkey's in our front yard this morning.  Eleven of them, (4) toms and (7) hens, and boy-o-boy were the toms showing off!  All puffed out and strutting, trying SO hard to impress the ladies.  Seems the ladies are annoyed with the constant badgering, as they try to mind their own business and forage for morsels.

They lingered and did their thing in the front of the house for about 20 minutes.  Cause some traffic woes, as the lookie-loos were stopping to watch.

I enjoyed the show, along with Trixie-dog and Oliver-cat.

Fake WannaBe Beaver

I spotted this varmint on my walk yesterday afternoon.  Didn't seem to care that I was there watching, or that the water is super cold, brrrr!

My first thought was beaver - I love beaver.  There are signs that there's beaver in that area.  For example, several good sized trees gnawed to the ground!  However, this rodent is NOT a beaver.

First sign, too much of it's body is above water as it's swimming -

Second sign, it's face it too elongated and pointy -

The third and final sign, circled in red, it's tail!  As you all know, a beaver has a flat tail.  This critter had a long thin tail, see?!

That would then make this water rodent a Muskrat!

The Bluebirds Have Returned

The Bluebirds are here and have been off an on throughout the winter.  These days it looks like they've staked their claim to one of our two bird houses, the same one they used for several clutches last year, and are busily gathering up nesting material -

Beautiful birds that I love having around.

A Survivor

Although, our rear neighbor clear up 90% of the trees in his backyard, it's nice to see the Red Squirrel has adapted and survived this past winter.

Love One Another

Time sure does have a way of quickly passing by and before you know it you're older and roles change.

A simple illustration that hit's home and moves me every time, in a good reflective way.

Faster! Faster! Go Faster!

This past Saturday was a beautiful day.  We spent the afternoon detailing cars and cleaning some items from the garage.  One item emptied and cleaned was a Craftsman Radio Flyer wagon.

Of course an empty wagon clearly means wagon rides up and down the driveway, regardless if you (56) in dog years or 19 in college student years.

What Do You Think?!

so say's my dad...

Mov'n On Up

This might sound weird to some but I re-homed out comet fish.

His summer days spent in a 55-gallon rain barrel are behind him.

He's moved onto a bigger and better tank, with littluns to fuss over him.

A Soaring We Will Go

What's that off in the distance?!

Is it a bird?  A plane? Superman?

It's a Red-tailed Hawk taking a breather is all...

Not the greatest pictures, a tad too blurry and an old camera.

You Are A Meathead

I came across this oldie game from back in the 70s.  I'm not sure why we had this game as a kid, nor do I recall ever playing it.  Perhaps, that's why it's in such good condition.

Boy-Oh-Boy, All In The Family wouldn't have a chance today!

Archie was one of the best!

Beer Is Awesome

I enjoyed a nice cold Samuel Adams Golden Ale the other day.

I also received some ribbing from my daughter about my koozie selection, where she told me I shouldn't be using such a koozie and that Trump lost...

However, Trump losing does NOT mean the Dems and Libs are in a better place.  Look what they got in Trumps place!!!  Is that really winning?!?!

Gobble Gobble Gobble

The marching, in March, of the turkey's.

Seven of them all in line came out from the back wetland area, along the property line into the neighbors driveway and crossed the street.  I suspect these dudes, as well as all wildlife in this area, are super happy that the warmer weather has arrived.  They are much more vocal and active these last couple of weeks.  Getting this matting game one...

One Fish Two Fish...

It's ironic that I came across this sheet of Dr. Seuss .37 stamps in my dads paperwork about the same time that (6) of his books were being called out as offensive for "racist images".

For the love of Pete!

Heavy Hearts Today

Our beloved Jack 2.0 passed away last night.

We lost track of just how old he was but suffice to say, he was an old timer, and a really good rabbit.  He had a great temperament, was friendly and loved to be scratched behind his ears and was a proud dad to many litters.

He'd been in decline for a while now but the last week or so he seemed to get worse, so it wasn't too much of a surprise to see he passed.  He was peacefully laying on his side, nestled amongst the hay, as if he simply went to sleep.

One of the last things I saw him eat, one of his favorites, was a fortune cookie.  I always saved him at least one when we ordered Chinese and he always enjoyed them and would eagerly chow them down.

We were able to give him a proper burial.

He will be missed ;-(
