Nor'easter #3

IT'S OFFICIAL:  Blizzard confirmed in Boston!

Whiteout conditions at times!

Today's nor'easter could be all March snow records for our area!

Here's a little taste from Franklin -

Snow drifts piled high against our rear slider -

The snow has been blowing and gusting that most of the windows are covered making it difficult to get clean, clear pictures -

Trees and shrubs, already reeling from the last storm, are facing another round testing their flexibilities -

Pools closed today -

The poor Dogwood tree looks more like a weeping cherry.  Hoping it bends and not breaks -

Initial snow falls sure a pretty -

Wreck-it Ralph coming to plow our driveway -

The snow pile at the end of the driveway can't get much taller -

Ok, I'm off to change and fire up the ole snowblower and clear the areas the plow couldn't reach.

UGH, Another Storm On The Way...

Here are a handful of storm pictures from the ole homestead -

We park the Explorer on the front lawn so it's not in the way when our neighbor comes to plow.  This gives him an unobstructed, straight shot down the driveway to push the snow, see below.  Most goes over the end without much effort, however, with all the snow we've received this is now a challenge.  As you can see the pile at the end of the driveway is now a mountain.

Here's Emilie and I making our way to the neighbors house to do some snow-blowing.  We have an agreement where he does the plowing of our driveways and follow up with the snow-blower to get at the nooks and crannies he can't do with the plow and do the cleaning up.  It's a great system and works out for both of us.

I found the plow buried fire hydrant.  Of course the snow in that area is the heavy, wet stuff so it's much more work to remove.  The snow-blower has a tougher time chomping through.

But as you can see we got her done.

We're bracing for another storm expected this Saturday into Sunday...

Blizzard JUNO 2015

We're in the record books for Boston being the snowiest January in history!

There's mountains and mountains of snow piles all over -

Being light and fluffy snow, along with super high winds, there are snow drifts like the one against our deck slider everywhere.  Many three, four feet high and more.

In the end we're lucky.  Had this been a wet snow there would have been so much more damage and power outages throughout the area.

The only concern now is future snow storms this season and where to put that snow when it falls.

You Make The Call...

Is Trixie dog:

a) Happily walking in the snow
b) Happily trudging and struggling through deep snow
c) Being dragged through deep snow wishing she was inside where it's warm and dry

Duck Duck Goose...

Hmm, I wonder what this yellow, orange and blue thing is in the backyard and in the middle of a blizzard no less?!

Let me zoom it and see if I can figure out what it is...

Well HELLO! It's Emilie and Trixie stuffed into a recycle bin that is sitting on a sled and they're covered with a duck umbrella.

I can NOT explain why other than it sure is great to be a kid!

Super Storm Saturn Postcards

Here are a couple more photo's I took this morning.

Beautiful at how the snow hasn't been disturbed yet.

Somewhat amazes me at how these two Oaks tress are still holding onto their leaves.  It's worried me with each snow storm, as the leaves hold onto more snow, which is more weight, than the other trees that were smart enough to drop theirs in the fall.  They bend something awful but have yet to break.

Super Storm Saturn, UGH!

Here are several pictures of the olde homestead following super storm Saturn.  As you can see she dumped a mountain load of snow on us - wet, heavy snow too!

Our snow blower decided to quit after an hour or so yesterday. I'm thinking the belt either broke, fell off or simply stretch itself out to much to be effective.  I've added to "the list" to be looked at.  In the mean time, JoAnne, Emilie and I finished up the old fashioned way.

Enough already!  I'm ready for the Spring!

Here Comes The Chief!

Trixie dog loves to run and doesn't seem to mind the snow at all.  Of course, she's too small for the amount of snow we have now but does just fine in the paths the snow blower made.  She also doesn't mind to dress up when she goes outside, ugh.

Gangway Coming Through

Snow blowing a path to the bird feeders.  Of course this will allow me access to fill when needed without having to climb over snow and it also clears a spot on the ground, under the feeders, for the birds that don't like to eat from them and prefer to eat off the ground, i.e. Morning Doves.
