My Wood Sorrel Plants - UPDATE

Original post from 6/17/2023 - My Wood Sorrel Plants

My Oxalis collection is growing literally and figuratively, and each is doing outstanding - just have a look for yourself -

I have three different varieties now and looking for new ones to add to my collection.

My Wood Sorrel Plants

Not Oxalis Regnellii, rather Oxalis Deppei or "Iron Cross" but a nice addition to my Oxalis triangularis.

I started these beauties from bulbs and within a 2-weeks it looks like this AND flowering!

More to come!

Now, if I can only prevent the idiot cat, Oliver, from eating the leaves, which then causes him to vomit, UGH.

A Few Of My Unique Flowers

A couple months ago I took a ride to North Attleboro specifically to visit Briggs nursery.  They're known for having a great assortment of flowers, annuals, perennials, succulents, etc. and unique varieties too.

I was on the hunt for the house plant Oxalis, otherwise known as False Shamrock.  I've had a few varieties in the past and took a fancy to them.  my timing was impeccable and I was luck enough to grab their last plant, Charmed Wine it's called.  I transplanted in into a clay pot and moved it under my back deck out of the sun and it is doing fantastic!  Just look at the deep purples -

While I was there and browsing I came across this eye catching Petuna, called Queen of Hearts, and just had to have it!  I planted in it in my mom's heavy concrete planter placed on the corner of my driveway and it's doing great, full of flowers!

Of course I will move the Oxalis indoors when the cold weather arrives and will try to overwinter the Petunia but unsure how successful I'll be.  I guess well see...

Our Oxalis - Shamrocks

Our Oxalis are doing very well.  They seem to really love this hot humid weather; unlike spending the winter months indoors where they completely go dormant and stop growing - just pots of dirt.  However, they always know when to reemerge.

We have three different types, and all three are flowering nicely.

Oxalis tetraphylla 'Iron Cross' -

Oxalis Triangularis 'Purple Shamrocks' -

Oxalis latifolia 'Garden Pink-Sorrel' -

False Shamrock or Wood Sorrels

Our Oxalis is doing fantastic this summer.  It's definitely liking and enjoying the high heat and humidity we've been having.

Three different varieties and all flowering away.  We've had these for many many years, always bring them inside for the winter then back outside for the warmer spring, summer and even fall months.
