Doh-nut Cereal!

Have you had your Homer's Cinnamon Donut cereal today?

One, Two, Three

Here's a sampling of the eggs our little ladies have been laying recently!  Although, it's been super cold here in New England, our girls are laying with pretty good regularity.  Out of seven girls, we've been getting anywhere from 4 to 7 eggs a day and most are EXTRA large too!

Winter Succulents

Mother-in-law's Tongue

A type of Graptopetalum or Ghost plant

Here are a couple succulent additions to the ole homestead.  They both seem to be doing well, so far.  The Mother-in-law's Tongue is loaded with babies and could be separated into at least five individual plants.

Big Flakes...

It snowed yesterday!  The local meteorologists missed the amounts on this one.  Predicted as a morning dusting quickly turned into a heavy wet snow.  In the end we ended up with ~4 to 6", which required shoveling.  Especially since the temperatures are expected to fall into the teens for highs next week, so getting this wet snow up was a good thing.

Out With The Broken...

Before - old microwave

During - installation new microwave

After - new microwave installed

Our old Kenmore microwave crapped out on us a couple of four weeks or so ago.  I didn't realize just how dependent we've become of said microwave.  Supposed this is typical of most anything, in that you don't realize what you had till it's gone.

So, JoAnne picked up a brandy-new Whirlpool (thanks Steve @ Sears Wareham!) last weekend.

Today was install day and a perfect day for it too.  It awful yucky out there today. Started out with rain but now it's snowing super BIG, heavy, wet flakes and cold.  So, an inside project was just what the doctor ordered.

In less than a couple hours the old microwave was removed, the new one installed and the kitchen put back together, tidied and cleaned.

Think I'll go give her a whirl and toss in a bag of old Orville Redenbacher!

Weird-O

Trixie Dog

The little lady was acting a little unusual this morning.  Here she is plopped smack dab in the middle of the kitchen floor all by herself.  We were in the family room and she's typically in there with us but she sat out in the kitchen just staring.

Bag-O Keys

Here's a variety of  keys. Most vintage - house, car, luggage, master lock, etc.

With the exception of one or two, no idea where or what these keys went/go to.  Doesn't matter at this point, as they've all (most) have gone to the lumber yard.

Study Time!

Snapped a picture of Emilie doing her homework by sunlight.

Drip Drip Drip

So, as I was loading up the car and prepared to head off to work yesterday morning, I raised the garage door as I always do.  However, and for whatever reason, the garage door windows began leaking once raised.  Now it was been raining quite a bit but garage door windows should NOT leak on the inside!

We've had nothing but problems since we've had the new doors installed.  VERY disappointed with the person who performed the installation!  Poor workmanship, lower grade tracks and corner cutting.  We've had him back twice.  Looks like another call to have him out for a third time, UGH!

Commute

Speeding up to keep from getting cut off is not considered cutting someone off is it?

Doggie Business

It's not easy being a kick-me-dog (lap dog) when the ground is covered with snow, as there's no place to "go"!

All this means is that the homeowners have to do additional shoveling (shovel the lawn) to accommodate.

The snow had just started to fall in the above photo, so she was able to make her way out via the kitchen slider. However, once the snow began to accumulate, and until it was shoveled, she needed to go outside via the basement door.

On The Fence...

The friendly neighborhood wild turkey was milling about and just hanging out on New Years Day.

As usual she was all alone.  She was content to just slowly putter around, often times stopping traffic as she crossed the street.

Here she is taking a break on some of the neighbor's fences.  I'm thinking she knew I was there and was striking a pose each time.

I've not see her since the Friday snow storm.  Of course her movements will be limited with all the snow we now have but hopefully, she's fine.

I'm Seeing Red...

The Cardinals are out and about this morning!

They don't appear to be bothered by the single digit temperatures at all.

They hang at a distance patiently waiting. Then they swoop in to the bird feeders and grab some vittles.

Here is a very cool picture of one "swooping" in!

Lazy Dipstick!

On a conference call this morning, so I'm tied to my chair and listening in.  I'm also watching my neighbor shovel his driveway.  Well, actually tidy up the snow that has blown back into his driveway following the original clean up.

So, the Friday morning free local newspaper lay at the end of their driveway this AM, as it typically does.  They seldom pick it up.  Typically, it sits out there in all kinds of conditions until Monday morning.  Monday morning is trash day for us and this is when it's finally picked up and discarded.

Over time, I've seen them walk right past it - going to fetch the mail, off for a neighborhood walk, doing lawn maintenance, etc. It baffles me why they can't be bothered to pick it up each week and take care of it.  It's unsightly!  Here's an idea, how about they call and have the delivery stopped - they never read it!

This morning was NO different.  He simply scooped it up with his snow shovel and tossed it onto the snowbank!

What a LAZY piece of shit!

Minus?!?!

It's a tad nippy here in Franklin this morning, BRR!!

Happy New Year 2014

Another year, another vasilopita!

Once again JoAnne made a delicious dime cake.

We hosted this year and after filling our bellies with Chinese food we moved onto the tradition of cutting the cake.  The luck recipient of this years dime was none other than our own Emilie!!!

Stop in for a sampling a cup of coffee, YUMMY!
