"Oh, The Places You'll Go"!

I came across these .37 Dr. Seuss USPS postage stamps the other day, two pages of twenty.

I forgot I had them.  I don't recall exactly when but they were given to me by my dad.  It was at some time after 2002 since these stamps were released back on June 30 of that year.

Not that I send much mail out via USPS but I gave some thought to simply using these on the few things I do mail.  However, after doing a bit of research and for posterity sake, I opted to keep and display them.

I tried to find matting to fit the page size but no luck, as they're an odd size.  I toyed with the idea of having a custom matting done but too impatient, so I went with a standard 8x10 frame and a 4x6 matte.  It chops off some of the stamps but it doesn't look too bad -

Interestingly, Amazon has this same page of stamps listed for sale and as of this morning there are only (7) left in stock, so order soon if interested -

From A Time Gone By

Scads of Beanie Babies!

Finally found the motivation to go through and sort all the Ty Beanie Babies we have, OMG!

I sorted them all, pairing up the duplicates and triplicates, etc..  I then put all the singles into one pile, keeping the ones with tags or the better condition tags and bagged up all the dups, which totaled over 110!

I did the ole Google search for "most valuable Beanie Babies" and then sadly confirmed, like all my lottery tickets, that I have NONE of the desired and rare ones, alas.

I sold the bag of 110, which went fast but not sure what to do with the rest.  Either way I made progress and whittled down the number of plastic bins taking up space to house these fad items of a time gone by...

Too Much Time On Hands

Found this painted rock on my walk the other afternoon.

I'm not sure of the etiquette and whether you're supposed to keep or pass it along.  However, the two urges I had at the time was, 1-toss this rock into the brook near where I found it or 2-bring it home for Emilie.

Clearly, I chose option 2. 

Ralou Greek Plates

It's only been months but I finally hung my aunt Ralou's Greek collectible plates.

They're much more enjoyable and can seen this way versus stacked in the corner.

I continue to find items from the past, as I work on rooting through boxes to clean the basement and garage.

"Boxed" Lunch

Sold the above two vintage, circa early 1970's, lunchboxes.

They were relocated here, with many, many more items, about five years ago when we were cleaning out my folks house.  They'd been sitting in the same spot on the shelf since their arrival.  So, I dusted them off, took some photos and posted them on Craig's List.

Brickskeller Endangered Species Beer Cans

 

Here are (4) Brickskeller endangered species beer cans from my collection.

 

From what I can tell these were made in and around 1977 by the Pittsburgh brewing company.  There were two series of twelve cans in each series - yellow and blue cans.  Unfortunately, I have only two from each set:

Houston Toad, Texas Lone Wolf, Leatherback Sea Turtle and Colorado Squawfish
