The girls are enjoying themselves and having a great season, as are the parents. As of this posting they're 8-1-3, with the season winding down.

Another Town of Franklin Embarrassment!

Following field hockey practice last night Emilie came home with her new jersey, pictured above.

Do you see anything wrong?!?!

Keep in mind we live in the town of FranKlin.

Believe it or not the girls were the ones who noticed the error and brought it to the coaches attention, which means NO one in the recreation department, including the coaches checked and verified the order/shirts before handing them out, imagine!  On top of that, the shirts were NOT taken back by the coach, rather they're supposed to wear them at the upcoming first game of the season.

It's both embarrassing and appalling that the mistake wasn't caught sooner and that the girls are expected to wear them.  I'd rather see them in pinnies.

Sacred Heart University vs Siena

 

This years team has only (3) seniors: #6 Jen, #15 Stephanie and #32 Melinda.

 

Emilie and I took off from Franklin at noontime and headed to Fairfield, CT.  We arrived early and walked around the SHU campus; it was a beautiful day.  Although, SHU lost 2 - 0 it was a memorable game being that it was senior day.  Emilie and I got to walk Stephanie out on the field in front of everyone before the game. A very special moment indeed.  We spent some time with Stephanie after the game then headed home.  It was a long day, with a lot of driving but SO worth it getting to spend time with two of the loves of my life!!

 

Stephanie's a senior this year; graduating in the Spring.  NO idea where the four years have gone?!?!

It's A Lonely Position...

Emilie just finished her first stint at Field Hockey.  She had a great time and enjoys playing the game.

 

The girls rotated positions to give them all a feel for what's expected and how to play each position.  This game Emilie played net, as you can see above, and did well.

 

Now onto basketball!

What a WIN!

 

The Sacred Heart Field Hockey team was in Cambridge this past Monday for an afternoon game against the Harvard Crimson.

 

And what an exciting game it was!!

 

The game went into double-overtime with the score tied 1-1 and with just 1:17 remaining SHU scored to win the game, awesome!!  SHU is now 3-1 on this young season!!

 

Of course the win was just the icing on the day.  The day was absolutely beautiful; Emilie went with me and, not only got to see her big sister play, but also to watch an official field hockey game.  She has just started playing field hockey herself, so hopefully she picked up one or two tidbits of the game; and we both got to spend a little time with Stephanie after the game and before her 3+ hour bus ride back to Fairfield, CT.

Road Trip

Took a drive to Hamden Connecticut this past Sunday - Quinnipiac University to be exact. The school was hosting a field hockey tournament and Sacred Heart University (SHU) was one of the division 1 schools participating. It was a nice, warm day and I got to spend the day watching Stephanie play some ball but more importantly I was able to spend some time with her too! Quinnipiac is kinda of the beaten path and let me tell you it's beautiful down there for sure. Of course, I wouldn't be me if I didn't bitch about something, so here goes - Connecticut drivers are assholes. That is all.

Walpole is once again the MIAA 2008 Field Hockey - Division 1 South sectional champions - for the fifth straight year!

They played Somerset on Saturday at Taunton High School for the South championship and beat Somerset in a very exciting game. Walpole controlled most of the game and won 3 - 1. Stephanie scored the first goal for Walpole.

They face North champions Weston on Wednesday 11/12 @ 5:00PM at Wayland High School in the state semi-finals with the winner moving onto the finals at Worcester State College on Saturday.
