Leaning Over

Had a bit of excitement there this afternoon, a BIG dead tree blew over onto the electrical wires and dangling over the roadway!

It's been incredibly windy today, with super strong gusts and this tree fell victim to it all.

Surprisingly, we never lost power or any services, and truth be told it's been a nice several hours with NO vehicle traffic speeding up and down the street since it's been closed.

All in all a pretty good response to get this resolved.

Franklin's finest FINALLY doing some speed enforcement and right in front of my house too!

I'd like to see them doing more of this!  I can only hope that they're issuing citations and not just warnings.

I've said this before, people suck!  Especially when they're behind the wheel.  The speeding, the aggressiveness, the distracted driving and general rudeness and inconsiderateness is out of control.

Catching the repeat offenders and issuing costly tickets with added surcharges to their insurance premiums is what just m ight wake this dipsticks up.

Speed Patrol, FINALLY!

I'm guessing a neighbor called the Franklin PD to report the crazy excessive speed on our street, and as they typically do a patrol car is sent to the area of the complaint to spend time checking speeds.

Since this doesn't last very long, as in multiple days, I believe it's more of  a show by the FPD and them trying to appease the person who called in the complaint.  The speeders most definitely slow down when there is a police presence but go right back to excessive when they're gone.

I would prefer to see them checking speeds AND the aggressive and distracted drivers on a more regular basis and before someone gets hurt.

However, a win is a win, and I will take this win, as a win!

Slow Down!

FPD doesn't do speed control enforcement on our street nearly enough, so when I see them out and have someone pulled over it's great!  I got a front row seat for this show.

The speeds are too fast and easily, in my estimation, 10-15mphs over the posted limited.  That coupled with the aggressive drivers and distracted drivers, it's always welcome to see when the FPD is holding people accountable.

Do You Know How Fast You Were Going?

A nice site to behold on this Friday morning - Franklin's finest pulling over a speeder in front of our house!  Doesn't happen often enough in my opinion.  With the new blacktop down on Lincoln Street the speeds have only increased but sadly radar patrol hasn't followed suit.

Hoping the speeder received a BIG fat ticket!

Franklin's finest have stepped up their speeding limit enforcement!

Yes sir, they've setup some speed traps near our house and as you can see in the above photos they nabbed a couple speeders.

Really would like to see them here and doing this on a more regular basis to keep the speeds down.

And just like how Mighty Mouse used to do it, so did one of Franklin's finest!

 

Happen to catch a Franklin police officer respond to a distress call at our neighbors house this afternoon.

 

From what I can tell it looked like the toddler got locked in the car!

 

Since it's in the area of 95 degrees and hot and humid and the vehicle being black and sitting out in the direct sun, it was clearly and emergency!

 

The police officer zoomed in and I'd say in less than 30 seconds upon his arrival he had the door opened.  Of course I can't divulge how it was done but it was pretty cool.

 

The little one looked fine once she was taken out of her car seat.  Thank goodness crisis averted.

You Have the Right to Remain Silent

 

We had a little excitement out by the street on Saturday.  By the way that Franklin's finest came roaring in; from both directions, with lights flashing and how they basically blocked the road you would have thought something really bad was about to go down.

 

However, in the end, it looks like they stopped four youts that were walking down the sidewalk.  For what I don't know but I'm guessing it wasn't for anything too serious as the kids were let to go on their merry way after a short detainment.

 

My guess is just four dopey, dumb-ass teenagers, not thinking and doing something stupid and two board police officers getting a chance to drive fast and flash their lights.

FINALLY!!

 

Franklin's finest have finally acted on my numerous calls with more police presence in an effort to slow down the endless speeders on Lincoln Street!  They've even taken me up on my offer to set up speed traps in our driveway.  This isn't the first time they've been here in the last couple of weeks and hopefully not the last too.

 

It's crazy just how fast some people drive.  The posted speed is 35 but I can assure you that the average speed is closer to 45+.
