Wascally Deer

It's easy to see who visits when there's snow on the ground II.

Many many deer tracks all over the back yard.  They're taking full advantage of there being no one around to keep them in check.

YUK!!

These are either cucumbers or zucchini squash or perhaps one of each. I was too disturbed at finding these and having to remove them to really care. I found them in the vegetable drawer of my dads refrigerator. Notice the state they're in now, and he just left on vacation for six weeks. Still not sure if the horrendous odor coming from the fridge was a result of these dudes or the half dozen other items he left in there, which were already spoiled.

I REALLY wish I had it in me to leave these items, as well as the other rotting and expired items, right where I found them. To let my dad return home after six weeks and take care of it himself. However, and perhaps it's my OCD, but I couldn't. It would have bothered me too much. So, I removed it all.

Hmm, I wonder if the folks who have attended his open houses have noticed?! I don't believe anyone has opened the fridge, but you don't have to, the smells hit you as soon as you walk in the door.

What If The Mower Had Nut Allergies?!

Did a little yard work at my dad's yesterday. Actually, my son Christopher did most of the work, I was just helping him out. Anyway, while he was raking I decided to pull the riding lawn mower out of the shed to see if I could get it to start. Since I didn't disconnect the battery when I last used it in the fall, it didn't have enough oomph to start. If that was going to be the only problem I was in good shape. A jump from my auto would do the trick and sure enough it did - fired right up, yippee! However, as you can see from the picture above, looks like some varmints were setting up house under the hood. Perhaps, this is there way of letting me know they're not too pleased with me removing and trashing all of the shed "stuff", which was essentially their hiding places, playground and homes. Nothing that a couple snap traps and some peanut butter won't resolve - it's go time!

Scrap Metal Recycling, Trip #3

Truck load # 3 - These items came from all over - basement, shed and the yard. Surprising what you find in the nooks and crannies; items stored many years ago.

The total weight of said scrap metal was 720 LBS!

I think I'll be making one more trip with some miscellaneous items that I was unable to fit in this load. I wouldn't expect this last trip to weigh nearly as much as this one or the two previous one.

Scrap Metal Recycling, Trip #1

Here is a picture of my truck fully loaded with metal items on their way to a local scrap metal recycling center. These items were removed in and around the shed, Charlie's Place, in an effort to clean out and organize.

The total weight of said scrap metal was 1020 LBS!

In my guesstimation there are enough metal items reaming on premise to take two more, full load trips.
