Playing In Traffic!

I had a doctor's appointment this morning at 8:40AM.

The appointment was at the Brigham and Woman's hospital in Boston, some 50+ miles from home.

I left my house at 6:45AM

And walked into the doctors office at 8:50AM.

Two hours and five minutes, UGH!  Stop and go. Lights. Stop signs. School busses. Assholes galore.

I do NOT miss the morning commutes AT ALL!  Thinking back, I'm not really sure how I did it every day and for SO long?!  However, the commute these days seems more aggressive in general and there are clearly more cars on the road too, which adds to the chaos.

I wouldn't let the doctor take my blood pressure reading initially, told him I need a bit of time to decompress 😁

The drive home was SO much easier.  It was after the morning rush and going in the opposite direction, so it was nice to be able to relax and take my time. I took a different route home, one I haven't driven in years, which was nice to reminisce and see how things have grown and changed.

I stopped at Volante Farms in Needham to grab a mid-morning snackie for the rest of the ride home and scored myself a delicious spinach and feta cheese croissant!  Truth be told, the croissant didn't last past the first stop sign outta the parking lot!

MMMM, SO good!

Splinter Ouchies!

Back in early September, when I was mowing the lawn, I rub up against a fence post and subsequently got stabbed with a good size splinter.  Fortunately, I was wearing long pants, which minimized the ouchies!  I was able to pull the splinter out, continued mowing and thought nothing of it.  After my shower that evening I tried to assess the ouchie but since it was on the outside part of my right leg, I couldn't get at it, nor really see it; I simply don't bend that way.  I applied Neosporin and a band-aid and forgot about it.  However, over the next couple of days it swelled up, got red and was super sensitive, so much so that it was keeping me up at night.

I thought it best to visit my local urgent care facility just to be safe.  That was back on September 7th.  The nurses and doctor were terrific, an overall great experience.  However, as nice and friendly, and being a jokester as the doctor was, all he did was look at the wound and ever so gently pressed the area, then claimed he didn't think there was anything in there, that it was infected, put me on antibiotics for a week and instructed me to soak in the tub.

Fast forward to October 21, YES 44-days later, and see what I pulled out of the wound, picture above!  I kid you not! After all this time the wound was not healing and although not sensitive any longer I did occasionally get a zing here and there depending on how the area was hit and that right there explains it!

Today is the 30th and the wound is just about healed.

I'd really be pissed had my insurance not covered my visit 100%.

Take A Deep Breath

All too familiar with this exam room.

Went to see my doctor earlier in the week about this nagging cough I've had for well over a month now.  I don't typically have to wait too long before being seen but this visit was different.  She's been inundated with all the sickness and colds going around.

She took a couple chest x-rays and all looked good. To be on the safe side she prescribed cough medicine and antibiotics, neither of which appear to be working.
