Odd But Effective

So, there’s this thing I do to help me remember people, I give them nicknames. I don’t do this when meeting people in the traditional way (maybe I should if it helps me remember their names, as I am terrible with names) but rather when passing or seeing them from time to time. I just assign random names that come to mind when I encounter someone a couple of times.

I mostly do it when out walking and since I’ve been walking the same trail for the last couple of months now this process helps me recognize some of the regular walkers I pass.

Here are a few examples, with pics:

This is “no shirt guy”, for obvious reasons. He’s a regular walker and I’ve yet to see him wearing a shirt -

This is “Edna”! She reminds me of my grandmother and God love her, see has to be in her late 70 but she is out there regularly walking the trail, even in the hot humid days, slowly plodding along -

This is “Gilligan” because he wears a sailors-type hat similar to the one Gilligan wore on the TV show back in the mid to late 60s -

There’s also:

Backpack guy (walks the trail wearing a BIG backpack),
Fanny pack (female jogger who wears a black fanny pack over the same outfit, which kinda clashes),
Female Gilligan (wears a white Gilligan-type sailors hat),
Spandex baby (a spandex wearing mom pushing a baby in a stroller in the same outfit each time),
The Marine (a senior who wears a red Marine t-shirt, was a Marine and whose real name is Noah. I gave him his nickname before meeting him and learning his name.)
DML (dude who wears a sleeveless t-shirt with a DML tattoo on left bicep)

There are others too but these are the folks I see and pass most often. All very friendly too.

As odd as this might seem, I’m fairly certain there are others <wink wink> that do something similar, for example - Mr Beeper and Mrs Blower 🤣🤣

Edge Hill Drive

Eerie weirdness kinda sorta...

Has or does this ever happened to you?!

It began, or at least when I first started noticing it, was around the beginning of February and continues to this day.  I will look at a clock; morning or evening, at home or the office, in my car or on my phone, at precisely when it displays 6:20!

The significance of this number is, as family will know, the house number of my West Virginia grandparent.  The house where my dad was raised.  Now, of course I'm reading into this, but this coincidence began shortly before my dad passed and now continues after his passing.  Is he, or my grandparents, trying to communicate?!

It's freaky, and truthfully kinda blows my mind, yet at the same time I want to believe it's a sign and that my dad is still near and this comforts me.

Eye Bubbles?!

Thought I had an eyelash causing my discomfort the other day but nope!  As you can see in the picture I had a bubble, UGH!  It didn't float around, rather remained in the same spot and it was annoying for sure.  It lasted for the day but was gone after a good nights sleep.  However, it came back a couple days later.  Made an appointment to see my eye doctor and of course the bubble was NOT there during the exam, nope no traces!  I has come back once more since but that was over a week ago.  Weird.

Good thing I had the above picture to show the doctor.  She was VERY impressed and asked me to pass this along to JoAnne who took the pic.  So, photo credits to JoAnne!!

From Mother to Daughter...

"From mother to daughter... a Kotex gift package"

My dad has begun the monumental task of going through and cleaning his house, starting with the closets. However, his cleaning methods, in my opinion, are suspect. For example, take the above Kotex box, which he presented to me when asking if I wanted it. You can image me first reaction and it wasn't, "Kotex is not my brand, I use Stayfree but thanks anyway"...

My second reaction was something altogether different when I opened the box and saw what was inside and it went something like this, "what the %@!&". Perhaps, I didn't say that exactly or even aloud but that's what I was thinking! Any ideas on what these might be? They're some sort of preserved, dried fruit or vegetable with a toothpick in many of them, odd.

*Anyone? Anyone? Rather odd I'd say. *Anyone? Anyone? Any ideas? *Anyone? Anyone?

Any idea or guesses on what these 'things' are, please leave a comment. I guess you could also say that my dad is making progress in cleaning his closets but on the flip side my basement is getting fuller!!

*Refers to the memorable quote from the Economics Teacher in the 1986 movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off ".
