Happy Easter 2026

Easter gathering with the family was special!

The decorations were perfect -

The food was delicious -

The flowers were lovely -

Easter day started out rainy and chilly here in East Tennessee, fortunately the rain stopped so the egg hunt could happen but the chill remained, brrr

Easter Garden Work

Happy Easter!

I spent the morning working in the yard, after my walk.

I got the first bag, step1, of Scott's fertilizer spread on my lawn.

Then off to my gardens where I turned the soil, using a shovel, in my 2 raised beds and my big garden!

It's amazing how quickly you fall out of condition over the winter but this was quite the workout.

Easter Bunnies

We're happy to report that all (6) of our baby bunnies have been placed in their new homes.

I'm happy to report that both mother rabbits have since been moved back outside and are NO longer residing in our basement!

Happy Easter!

The Maternity Ward

Well, it's that time of year again - rabbit breeding time!

With Easter fast approaching I timed the breeding to have some cute bunnies for the holiday.

We have two does; Moe and Shadow, and they were both bred on February 1.  The maternity ward was setup in the basement, per usual, and the ladies brought indoors on March 1.  The timing was spot on as Shadow had her litter of (7); her first, on Sunday night/early Monday morning and Moe had her litter of (2) Monday night into Tuesday.

Here's the maternity ward -

Shadow's nest -

Moe's nest -

Moe's two babies -

Shadow's (6) babies (one passed) -

Emilie and I moved (2) of Shadow's babies into Moe's nest.  This way each doe has four babies to feed.  There is a great chance for all eight to survive with this approach.  We'll see, time will tell.

Pineapple Angle Lush Dessert

Oh, it might look like the leaning tower of pizza but don't be fooled. JoAnne and Emilie whipped up this bad boy for Easter and it was goooooood! It's called Pineapple Angle Lush. The recipe can be found at kraftfoods.com or by clicking the link above.

And here is JoAnne and Emilie's handy work once again. Good ole fashioned colored Easter eggs. The dark colored egg is one layed by our chickens - either Ethel, Lucy or New Honey. The others are store bought. Our chickens are brown egg layers and as the commercial jingle goes, 'brown eggs are local eggs and local eggs are fresh' and you ain't gonna get eggs any fresher that ours. However, brown eggs are not the best or preferred for coloring and you can see why. One of the white store eggs came cracked, so we went to the bull pen (baseball term) or rather the chicken pen to have an even dozen.
