Happy Halloween 2024

Of all the Halloween decorations I've seen this year, and there are many creative ones, this witch\scarecrow is my favorite.

An Early Trick or Treater

I had a pre-Halloween trick-or-treater this past Saturday afternoon, little Darth Vader!

My 4-year old neighbor was SO excited to come and show me his costume, he couldn't wait for the 31st.  Thankfully, I was prepared with candy even though I've not had a trick or treater in several years now.

Little does he know that as excited as he was to come show me his costume, that he actually made my day more than I made his.

He is quick with yelling "hi Steve" whenever he sees me out, which always makes me smile!  He and his family are moving to Florida in just a couple weeks and I will miss his greetings.

Some wonderful memories of Halloweens past with my kids came rushing back too. I miss those days. Time sure does go by too fast.

Halloween Prep

Trick or Treat!

Emilie working on her Halloween costume by adding some fake blood to her t-shirt.

It was a good idea and shirt came out looking as if it had real blood stains on it.  Emilie did a good job decorating it.  Perhaps, due to her love of the Walking Dead...

Halloween Trick or Treaters

The White Tailed Deer twins were out and about on Halloween eve around 5 o'clock.  They didn't seem to be bothered by the passing cars as they made their way from the neighbors yard, across our driveway stopping to nibble the flowers off of the mums, then up and into our front flower beds.  One appeared to have a specific hanker'n in mind as he made his way straight for the Holly bush, GRRRR.

Something spooked them, perhaps because it was Halloween, and off they went down back with their "white" tails high in the air.

It's enjoyable to have them visit and watch them but only when they behave and stay away from and out of our gardens.  Fortunately there isn't too much damage they can do at this time of the year, as most everything has gone dormant for the winter and has been cut back.

Flat & I'm NOT Talking About Women's Shoes...

If you're in the area and happen to have a can of Fix-A-Flat, please stop by and lend a hand.  Our Halloween pumpkin has sprung a leak and deflated...

Happy Halloween 2013

Snapped this picture of rather unusual SUV.  What made is unusual you ask?!  Well, some might guess the skeleton tied to the front brush guard and I admit that's not something you see every day.  On a day like Halloween this would be considered expected.  However, I took this picture back in September...you see what I mean?

Happy Halloween All!  Be safe!

Halloween 2010

Here are the two Jack-O-Lanterns that JoAnne and Emilie carved. I was exhausted just watching them!

Pretty cool right!

And here's the haul, the loot; Emilie's rewards (mine too, shhhhh)...

Happy Halloween 2008

Tick or Treat

JoAnne and Emilie carved the pumpkins below - another year and another outstanding job! Some of the seeds are baking in the oven as I type, just like my mom used to do, and some are being saved for planting come Spring.

Boo

Happy (belated) Halloween

Here is our all black, declawed (front paws only because it would simply be too cruel to do the back paws too - wouldn't it?), indoor, basement dwelling cat Lila. She's hanging out in the bathroom windows checking out the sparrows just out of her reach.

Here are the pumpkins that we grew this year, all six. These guys grew from last Halloween's pumpkins that we added to our compost pile at the end of last year. I did the growing, Emilie did the harvesting and JoAnne did the carving. As you can see she also tried something different this year and spray painted one of the pumpkins all black...just like Lila.

Jack-O-Lantern 2006

Although Halloween 2006 has come and gone, I thought I'd post a couple pictures of JoAnne's handy, carving work. She did this free hand and completely blindfolded, so you know that I watch my P's and Q's and that I am always on best behavior!
