Doggie Land Mines!

Different state, same issue -

I just assumed things would be different here in East Tennessee but I was mistaken.

Different state. Different town. Same lazy, disrespectful dog owners who do NOT pick up after their dogs do their business! They ignore the posted signs AND even though there are “doggie” stations with poop bags and their own trash receptacles, still there are those lazy, entitled POS that refuse to comply.

It was more obvious to me yesterday, as I needed to walk on the grass berm next to the paved walking trail that was flooded out with all the rain we’ve got. So, not only did I need to navigate puddles and mud but also mounds of neglected dog poop. And this is at a seemingly popular walking trail in Greeneville.

I’m not surprised, more so just disappointed.

Please Pick A Spot And GO 💩

What's the deal with dogs, or at least my dog Ms. Trixie, taking forever and a day to chose their spot to drop a deuce 💩?!

She seems to be doing this more and more as of late, what gives?

The two of us this morning -

When we were back in Massachusetts it didn't effect me much, as I would simply open the slider and she'd go out herself, in the safety of the fenced in yard.  However, here in East Tennessee, the yard isn't fenced, she's not familiar with the area and I want to make sure there are no dangers lurking, so I take her out.

This morning for example, at 2:00AMish, then again at 5:00AMish AND in the single digit and gusty, ole Trixster was acting like Dr. Louis Leakey looking for ancient fossils and taking her sweet time - let's go💩 -

It's too cold for all this 💩 AND I want to go back to bed!

It's NOT A Game To me!

The Easter egg roll at the White House is an age old event where children use plastic spoons to roll hard boiled eggs to the finish line, a cherished springtime tradition for sure.

I have a bit of a similar tradition here at the ole homestead.  It's one I typically do twice a week, however, my tradition doesn't involve eggs, nope, rather it involves dog poop 💩.  More specifically Trixie's poop, YUK 🤢

Here's the problem, which I am sure I'm the only one who has this "issue", let me explain -

I keep a trowel under my back deck that I use solely and specifically for picking up Trixie's "business".  Generally speaking it does the job and works just fine.  However, why is it that whenever I'm "scooping" up her crap it feels like I'm doing an egg roll?  More often than not I find myself chasing after one or two elusive terds that just will NOT comply and get on the trowel, grrr!

So, if you happen to be in ear shot of my backyard and you hear me yelling and cursing, it's a safe bet I'm in the midst of performing a "dog poop roll" and trying to wrangle a nugget or two onto the trowel to be bagged for disposal.

Oh well, shit happens...

No, I'm NOT Shitting You!

Here are two more examples as to why people SUCK!

Two piles, of what looks to be dog shit; one smack dab in the middle of the road, YES, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD and the other smack dab in the middle of the sidewalk!

What is wrong with people?  Lazy, inconsiderate POS to say the least!

Ironically, professed "dog people" seem to me to be the BIGGEST offenders of their responsibilities and often will be the quickest to judge or try to defend the inconsiderate actions other "dog people".

Hypocrites and literally they're pieces of shit (POS)!

Earth's Geomagnetic Field

Yup, pretty much sums it up here at the ole homestead, alas...

However, seems there's more to it than a quick squat and that Trixie is calibrating herself to the earths geomagnetic field -

Hmm, could this explain why I spin several times before situating myself on the commode?!  Never mind, guessing it's more of an OCD thing...

My Hands Were Forced!

In recent weeks I've been finding more and more piles of dog crap on my lawn.  What should be common knowledge for dog owners and straight up common curtsy clearly isn't so, with at least one dog walker.  Unfortunately, this seems to go hand in hand with all the other BS taking place today with people feeling entitled to do whatever they want without any regard for others.  It's a sad time.

Most of the people that walk their dogs past our house are super nice, friendly and always bellowing a big HI whenever I'm out in the yard.  We've not had dog poop issues for quite some time, which means most of the people, the regulars anyway, are being respectful and picking up after their dog.  However, this has changed recently, which has encouraged me to put so a couple reminder signs that dog pooping is NOT allowed!

We'll see how this works.  To be honest, I'm expecting someone to damage or steal the sign.  I suspect the offender will simply ignore the sign and continue to let their dog(s) crap wherever.

Good news is that I'm fairly certain I know the person, a woman, who's responsible.  She walks 2 dog of which she has very little control over from what I've seen.  The Beagle is on a long leash, too long, way ahead and pulling her along.  The second dog is a Basset Hound, with smaller legs, that lollygags behind and looks to being pulled or drag in order to keep up.  A confrontation is looming...

I wanted to THANK my brother who made these fantastic signs for me!

If anyone needs anything sign related made I would highly recommend FASTSIGNS of Cutler Bay Florida!

Give Greg a call and tell him I sent you!

The Crafty Pooper??

I don't know what's up with Trixie-dog lately, perhaps she's trying to tell us something.  Whatever it is she best get it resolved and resolved quickly as patients are running might thin with all of the two-legged occupants of the house.

Here she is taking a load.  Not only is she performing this task on the pool deck but also smack dab in front of the gate, why?!  I watched her march straight to that spot, squat and go.

She's also done similar but in the house.  On the rug.  In the front foyer of all places and in the kitchen. In front of the back slider.

Turf Maybe?!

Well, it didn't take long for Trixie dog to take a dump on the pool cover, UGH!

I can't imagine it's the color as I thought that dogs were color blind, so that's not it.

Whatever the reason is I'm NOT happy about it that's for sure.  At least this load I can reach with the shovel to remove, however, it's the land minds she plants in the center of the cover that have me worried, YUK!

Who wants to come over for the first swim of the season come Springtime?!

Pool (Birdie) Poop, What Else...

Our pool, with it's new liner, is up and running and looking great so far this season! It's far too cold for me but Emilie has already been in it at least a dozen times now and loves it!

This year, however, we're having a rather strange and nasty issue, which is shown in the photo above. All along the edges of the pool is bird poop. It's the weirdest thing. I've yet to figure out what type of bird(s) is responsible for this yucky, mess but am leaning towards the "Common Grackle", and why along the pool edges only. Perhaps, they're after the insects that fall into to water, dunno I'm puzzled.

Seems like I wash it off, they see it clean and return to deposit more. Not sure what to do at this point. If I only had a pool girl, she could keep watch and shoo em away while sun bathing, oh er I mean while she's tending to the pool...

STOP THE PRESSES, STOP THE PRESSES!!

Anyway, I just did a quick Google search and came across a pool spa forum that had many, many pool owners complaining about the same problem. Turns out the poop is actually what's called a "fecal sac". A fecal sac is a mucous membrane, generally white or clear with a dark end, that surrounds the feces of some species of nestling birds. It allows parent birds to more easily remove fecal material from the nest. Pretty interesting huh, who would have thunk?!? Apparently, the young birds will stop producing this fecal sac shortly before they leave (fledge) the nest, which can't be soon enough!

Name the Poop

It's time for another game of, "Name the Poop".
This poop was found in our driveway the other morning.
A single poop; no pile of poop and no multiple poops, just a single poop.
Can you identify the critter responsible for this poop?
If so, Name the Poop...
P.S. JoAnne took this poop picture.

Robin 'Shock and Awe'

Has anyone else noticed or is it just me that the American Robin's are pulling a George Bush type 'Shock and Awe' this Spring? It must be the diet of earthworms but these red-breasted, feather balls are dropping poop-bombs the size of the average persons head - I kid you not! This is just one example - look out below!
